Apoorva Lal is a research scientist on the Machine Learning and Inference Research (MLIR) team at Netflix, where he works on the intersection of causal inference and machine learning.
He received his PhD from the Department of Political Science at Stanford University in 2023, where he studied causal inference, machine learning, and political economy. During graduate school, he worked on data science and causal inference problems at Netflix, the Data and Evidence for Justice Reform group at the World Bank, and Atlas AI. Prior to graduate school, he worked in health economics research, and studied Economics at Williams College.
