Joel is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Global Policy Lab at Stanford University supervised by Solomon Hsiang. He earned a PhD in Agricultural & Resource Economics with a designated emphasis in Development Engineering from University of California, Berkeley where he was an Innovations at the Nexus of Food, Energy, and Water Systems Fellow and a BS in Economics from Tulane University. Joel studies questions related to how agricultural systems around the world interact with the environment, often using remote sensing and machine learning tools which he sometimes help develop.
