Kate Roll
Associate Professor, Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose, UCL
Dr Roll is a political scientist whose work focuses on the complexity of sustainable development. Her multi-disciplinary work brings together politics, business ethics, and critical development studies. It asks questions such as: Who gets what after war and why? Who carries risk when corporations sell through the poor? And how do the SDGs create change?
Dr Roll serves as Associate Professor in Innovation, Development and Policy and Head of Teaching at UCL’s Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose. At UCL, she established and chaired the UK’s Sustainable Development Solutions Network.
Prior to joining IIPP, Kate was based at the University of Oxford, where she ran a multi-year research partnership on responsible business; she still contributes to the strategy and innovation curriculum at the Saïd Business School. She holds a BA from Brown University (Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude) and an MPhil in International Development Studies (Distinction) and DPhil in Politics from the University of Oxford.
