Luis Felipe Munguía Corella
President, Mexican National Minimum Wage Commission
Luis Felipe Munguía Corella studied for his Ph.D. in Economics at the University of California, Irvine. He has worked as an external consultant at the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank. He was also Economist of the Foreign Trade Office at Banco de México and Deputy Director of Foreign Trade Statistics at the Ministry of Economy. He has written and published academic articles on labor economics and minimum wages in international journals. His most recent publications are available in the IZA Journal of Labor Economics and World Development; its latest publication in 2020 analyzes the minimum wage effect in monopsonistic labor markets. He is currently President of the Mexican National Minimum Wage Commission, which is in charge of minimum wage policy in Mexico.
