Javier Coronado
Economic Director, Competition, Regulation and IP practice at Garrigues Peru
Javier Coronado is the Chief Economist/Counsel and co-leader of the Competition, Economic Regulation and IP practice at Garrigues Peru. He focuses his expert advice in the economic analysis of antitrust and merger control, unfair competition, intellectual property, regulation of public utilities, regulatory impact analysis, and damage estimation. His expert skills include the application of a wide range of econometric and quantitative tools.
Prior to joining Garrigues in 2020, Javier served as the CEO and previously as Chief Economist at INDECOPI, the Peruvian competition, consumer protection and IP agency. He served also as a member of the Tribunal of Controversy Resolution of the transport regulator and as Vice Ministry of Telecommunications. He was an associate economist and consultant at top consultancy firms in Europe such as Charles Rivers Associates and NERA Economic Consulting and economist in sectoral regulators in Peru.
Javier is a professor of competition and industrial organization at graduate programs in Peru. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics at Universitat Pompeu Fabra and a MSc. Economics degree at the London School of Economics.
