Guilherme DePaula

Dr. Guilherme DePaula is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics and a Research Affiliate at the Center for Agricultural and Rural Development (CARD) at Iowa State University. Dr. DePaula completed his Ph.D. in Environmental Economics at Yale University in 2017. Dr. DePaula’s research focuses on the analysis of private sector mechanisms that promote agricultural development and environmental conservation. Specifically, Dr. DePaula investigate the role of farming contracts and social networks in technology adoption and risk management, the potential for private sector adaptation to climate change in agriculture, and the design of market instruments to balance agricultural expansion and forest conservation.
