Hernan Winkler is a Senior Economist at the World Bank Poverty and Equity Global Practice for Latin America and the Caribbean. He has led technical work and policy dialogue on labor markets, on the impacts of technology adoption and policy reforms, and on the drivers and consequences of poverty and income inequality. He has also worked at Amazon as a Senior Economist using Causal Inference techniques to guide business decisions. His research has been published in top academic journals including the Review of Economics and Statistics, the Journal of Human Resources, and the Journal of Development Economics. A dual US-Argentinian national, he holds a PhD in Economics from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), and a Master's from the University of La Plata, Argentina.
