Asad Liaqat
Research Scientist, Meta
Asad Liaqat is an applied microeconomist who works on the digital economy and development economics. He is a Research Scientist at Meta where he conducts economics research on questions related to the digital economy, small businesses growth, and related topics. He uses a combination of randomized experiments, observational methods for causal inference, machine learning methods, and surveys in his research.
His work has appeared in academic journals such as the American Political Science Review and PS: Political Science and Politics, as well as popular publications including the Washington Post and Dawn Pakistan. He also hosts a podcast on technology in the Global South, called "Unpacking Us".
He holds a PhD in Public Policy from Harvard University and a BA in Political Economy & Philosophy from Williams College.
