Dr. Bei Liu is program manager and associate research fellow of the China Development Research Foundation (CDRF). Her professional experiences concentrate on the design, implementation and evaluation of CDRF’s early childhood development (ECD) programs in geographically and culturally diversified, and economically underdeveloped areas in West China. She charged one of the first 1000-day maternal and child nutrition intervention initiatives in China. The impact evaluation provided primary evidences to implement a national nutrition intervention program for children under 2 years in all poverty counties launched by the National Health Commission in 2012. Dr. Bei Liu currently charges the program of Rural Education and Child Health (China REACH), an integrated nutrition and psychosocial stimulation program for children at age 6-36 months advised by Professor James Heckman at the University of Chicago. Dr. Bei Liu’s evaluation research is published in the policy research monograph series of the Development Research Center of the State Council and the China Development Research Foundation. She is a member of the Society for Research on Child Development, Human Capital and Economic Opportunity Global Working Group. Dr. Bei Liu received her PhD in Sociology from the Johns Hopkins University in 2006 and was a visiting scholar at the University of Chicago in 2019-2020.
