Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, University of South Carolina
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of South Carolina. I am visiting the Department of Economics and Economic Growth Center at Yale University in Spring 2023.
I received my Ph.D. in Economics from Georgetown University in May 2022. In 2021-2022, I was also a research fellow in the Women and Public Policy Program at the Harvard Kennedy School.
My research investigates how i) the structure of and changes in the labor markets, ii) laws, government policies and institutional environment, affect women's employment and health primarily in developing but also in developed countries. By studying the effects of labor markets and formal institutions on women's lives, my research aims to understand the determinants of gender inequality and potential policies to reduce it.
The majority of my work combines administrative and spatial data with household surveys. I use both theory and quasi-experimental and experimental methods in my research.
