Kashif Zaheer Malik

Dr. Kashif Zaheer Malik is an Assistant Professor of Economics at LUMS. He is a Fulbright Scholar and has a Masters and PhD degree in Economics from Florida State University. His area of research ranges from empirical macroeconomics, theoretical macroeconomics and Industrial Organization. Dr. Malik has conducted various quantitative researches in multiple areas ranging from Trade and Industry to Micro-finance. He has consulted for Barclays Bank and Coca-Cola Beverages Pakistan Limited and has also been involved with the International Growth Centre (IGC). He has also lead a project named “Randomised Evaluation of Micro-Venture Capital” which aims to study the impact of introducing Sharia compliant micro financing in collaboration with Akhuwat. Dr. Kashif has also worked on a project that measures the Eco-nomic Impact of Coca-Cola Beverages Pakistan Limited (CCBPL). The study employs input-output model and Social Accounting Matrix to measure income and employment effects of CCBPL on the economy. Previously, Kashif has conducted two research studies for IGC, one focusing on the industrial clusters in Punjab and the other focusing on the garment sector. Both projects involved extensive field work and data analysis. His current research in collaboration with Health and Nutrition Innovation Fund (HANIF) and Department for International Development (DFID), focuses on bridging the knowledge gap amongst women about child health specifically in rural communities through creating and distributing specialized comic books.
