Mathieu Couttenier is Professor of Economics at the Ecole Normale Superieure de Lyon. His research focuses on the determinants (income shocks, natural resources, climate) and the consequences of violence and civil conflicts and also on the effect of media on NGO strategy. His work has been published in the American Economic Review, Journal of European Economic Association, Review of Economics and Statistics, Economic Journal and other academic journals.
