Esteban Ortiz-Ospina
Senior Researcher and Content Lead, Our World In Data
Esteban Ortiz-Ospina is senior researcher and Content Lead on Our World In Data. He explains and visualises the development of human society, and is interested in the provision of public goods – education and health in particular.
Prior to joining the team at Our World in Data, Esteban was a Departmental Lecturer in Economics at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford, where he remains a Research Associate. He has also served as an advisor to the National Planning Department in Colombia, providing guidance on national policies focusing on internal displacement; and as a consultant to the Ministry of National Education, also in Colombia.
Esteban completed his doctoral studies at the University of Oxford (DPhil Economics), and much of his research uses applied microeconomics to study the economics of discrimination and public good provision. In current projects he is studying the design of admission policies in elite English universities, and labour market recruitment policies in developing countries.
