Claudia Martínez A. is a Professor in the Department of Economics at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a J-PAL Affiliate. Her research focuses on female employment, savings, micro-entrepreneurship, education, and disabilities in developing countries. Previous and current projects include evaluating the effects of information to parents, the inclusion of students with disabilities, and the socio-emotional and educational effects of after-school programs. Regarding labor markets, she has studied the effects of childcare on female employment and quota laws for individuals with disabilities. In micro-entrepreneurship, she has conducted evaluations in Chile and Peru regarding the effects of asset transfers and individual vs group training. Claudia earned her PhD in economics from the University of Michigan in 2007.
