Kai Barron is a Research Fellow at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center and a member of the Berlin School of Economics (BSE). He holds a PhD in Economics from University College London and an undergraduate degree from the University of Cape Town. His primary research fields are experimental and behavioral economics, focusing on understanding how individuals interpret and learn about the world around them, specifically through belief formation, narratives, memory and mental models. This work sheds light on the cognitive processes that underpin economic decision-making.
In parallel, Kai’s research addresses issues relevant to the Global South, tackling societal challenges such as reducing discrimination, improving public health, and alleviating inequality, thereby offering insights into societal dynamics within complex environments. Through his work, he employs a diverse range of methodological approaches and often takes an interdisciplinary perspective, contributing to a richer understanding of both individual and societal decision-making processes.
